Valuable Car Information for Buyers

Prior to buying a motor, whether new or used, it’s always crucial to get the correct car information in order to make a knowledgeable purchase. I recently bought a used auto without obtaining the necessary car information first, and boy was that a blunder on my part! It was a 2000 used Nissan Sunny , a car recognized for its reliability, and I thought that I would have little or no trouble with it for years to come. Ha! Was I wrong. If I had checked the vehicle identification number on carfax, like my sister did before she bought her used Honda pilot , I would have discovered that this seemingly immaculate Nissan had been in 2 major road accidents! It was a disaster waiting to happen from the day I bought the wretched thing.

If you're planning on buying a new car, it’s enough to simply read consumer reports, but for a second hand motor, you need more car information. If I had known about the previous collisions, I might have paid for someone to inspect it more carefully, and then I would have found out that there was a crack in the engine block before I handed over the cash. As it stands, I was spontaneous and bought it without getting enough car information beforehand and I now have repairs to do which are more expensive than the vehicle was to buy in the first place.

Obviously the best kind of car information can come from a ‘trusted mechanic’. For 25 years, my folks went to the same mechanic, a man by the name of Bobby Spanner, until he passed away recently. At his funeral, at least half of the people there were his loyal customers who had depended on his car information to judge what repairs to do, whether to buy a car or not, and when it was time to get rid of an old banger. If he were still around, I would have surely taken this Nissan to him before I bought it so as to acquire all the car buying information I would need to make an informed purchase.

My new mechanic did look at it, but it appears that he did a slapdash job. He relies on diagnostic tools and machines and the work of his techs to get car information, but it seems that he never looked all that closely himself. If he had, he would have almost certainly noticed something as obvious as a threatening engine catastrophe , but instead, he just glossed over the vehicle . I lost thousands of dollars, and he lost a customer.
