Car Shipping Tips

Try to be precise on collection and delivery dates if possible. If not, affirm that they are unverified. The more information that you can provide to a delivery company, the better they will be able to supply you with a more accurate quotation

You should supply as much information as possible concerning the service that you require such as delivery on a particular date, covered transport, additional insurance if your car is worth more than $X.XX, a timed delivery, or details of access problems at the collection or delivery addresses.

If you have a special request, or need additional information regarding car transport or vehicle deliveries do not hesitate to contact us by email. Please give us as much information as possible so we can give you a response that will assist you.

Car Shipping. Covering all the Angles.

By Andy Maingam

Simply put , car shipping is the method of moving your vehicle from point A to point B. From a customer point of view, there are a number of things that are vital when selecting someone who is in the car shipping business.

First, when considering car shipping, the cost to ship is very important and can vary quite a bit between companies. Is their price for car shipping competitive and reasonable? Second, I need to know if the company has a good reputation for quality and safety. Will the methods they use for car shipping assure me that my vehicle will arrive securely and in one piece at the destination? And finally, it is important to consider punctuality when choosing a car shipping business. Will my vehicle arrive when it was promised to arrive give or take a bit?

Some car shipping is only domestic. Other shippers deal with international countries. When looking for a car shipping business, you must consider from where you will start and what your destination will be. How much experience does the company have in shipping to that destination?

Another very important factor is to make sure you are quoted an all inclusive price. I remember the fist time I arranged for my motor to be shipped and I thought I’d paid for the lot until the car shipping company called some days later to ask if I wanted Marine Insurance! What? They pointed out it was an optional extra and that they could provide if I hadn’t already arranged it myself.

I have learned the hard way about which questions to ask when shipping an car or other vehicle internationally. My experience taught me that there is a lot to learn before committing to a specific car shipping company. The costs to ship your vehicle will be significantly more than shipping domestically. Also, when shipping internationally, you must have clear title to the vehicle in order to get the vehicle through customs with both the outgoing and incoming countries.

When looking at car shipping companies , ask them in writing, when exactly your automobile will depart and when it will arrive. My first experience was not good. My pride and joy sat around waiting for other cars to go to the same country. It took an extra four months for my motor to even leave port, let alone arrive at its destination.

Vehicle transportation can be a real headache and it’s best to prepare yourself for the potential hurdles along the way. It’s important to verify the arrival date as well. You will likely have to pay some customs fees to receive your incoming vehicle. Be sure to have the original title with you as well as the original bill of landing when you want to claim you vehicle. The car shipping company should be able to provide you with an exact date of arrival for your vehicle.

The best recommendation I can give is to shop wisely and ask a lot of questions when looking for a car shipping company. Write you questions down and tick them off only when you’re happy with the answers. Choose someone who has a lot of experience and a proven track record shipping to the country you are planning on sending your motor to. If your car shipping company does not have the experience needed, or the come across as a bit slapdash, don’t waste your valuable time with them and move on to someone else otherwise you may find that you have many headaches along the way.
